JOB DESCRIPTION

Title: Appalachian Coalition Coordinator

Summary:

The Equality and Fairness Coalition is seeking a Coalition Coordinator for the Appalachian region. This position will work to engage businesses with a footprint in Appalachia to join and actively support the Equality and Fairness Coalition and our member organizations within the region.

This position will be key in building regional business support and partnerships that advance LGBTQ equality and first principles in the region. This position will report to the Equality and Fairness Coalition co-chairs.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Member Recruitment

  • Recruit businesses to join the coalition through the national Unity Pledge;

  • Engage and educate businesses that have a footprint in PA and WV about the Equality and Fairness Coalition and our principles and goals;

  • Develop quarterly event for current and prospective coalition members in PA and WV;

  • Design membership drive campaign for Fall of 2025 in coordination with supervisors.

Community Outreach

  • Recruit individuals, LGBTQ organizations and businesses to join the coalition through the national Unity Pledge;

  • Engage and educate the LGBTQ and allied business community in PA and WV about the Equality and Fairness Coalition and our principles and goals;

  • Develop quarterly event for LGBTQ inclusive community in PA and WV.

Membership Management & General Administration

  • Update calendar of events and meetings for regional coalition development;

  • Verify and manage email lists in regional coalition database and website;

  • Assist with administrative tasks as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Proven customer service and relationship management skills and experience working in a business environment;

  • Experience with CRM and/or eCommerce platforms; member relationship management experience preferred;

  • Highly self-motivated;

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written;

  • Knowledge of the PA & WV business communities;

  • Knowledge of the PA & WV LGBTQ communities;

  • Able to set and meet measurable goals;

  • Excellent organizational and follow-up skills;

  • Outgoing and enjoys networking;

  • A team player with good work ethic and positive attitude;

  • Experience using Mac, Windows, email, MS Office, Adobe CS (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop), Mail Chimp, Social Media, and customer management platforms;

  • Ability to work extended hours to attend relevant events and activities.

Event planning & promotion; membership management & recruitment; customer relationship management

Compensation:

Entry-level to mid-level. Contract position with potential to become full-time. Competitive wage commensurate with experience.
