Reflections on the Election
Dear Friend of Fairness,
As we process the results of last week’s presidential election, many of us are left with a deep sense of uncertainty and concern. We at Fairness Pennsylvania share the anxiety and fear that so many of us, especially our transgender siblings, are experiencing right now. This moment is hard, and it’s okay to feel overwhelmed.
However, we must also remember that the fight for justice and equality has never been easy – the road to equality is long and winding. Across the nation and right here at home, there are millions of people who share our vision for a world where everyone – regardless of their identity – is treated with dignity, and can live fully and authentically, without fear of discrimination.
That vision is not gone. While this election may have shifted the current course of our nation, it cannot change the core of who we are. We are still the resilient, compassionate, and welcoming community we’ve always been. Our strength, our values, our commitment to each other continue to be unshakable. This fight might not be easy, but that is what makes it necessary.
In times like these, we are reminded that our power lies in standing together, lifting each other up, and living by the principles of fairness and compassion. Our work is not finished, and it’s more important than ever to remain steadfast in our belief that a brighter, more inclusive future is possible — one that belongs to all of us.
Thank you for your continued support, for your unwavering commitment to justice, and for standing alongside us in the fight for a world where every person can thrive. The journey ahead may be difficult, but together, we will keep pushing forward and we will win these fights — together.
