Standing Together for Trans Rights

Dear Friend of Fairness,

Like many of you, we’ve been deeply shaken by President Trump’s recent executive order targeting the existence and rights of transgender people across the United States. This action is a painful reminder of how quickly progress can be threatened – it’s hard not to feel overwhelmed and uncertain about what’s next.

If you’re feeling like we are right now, we want to remind you that it’s okay to take a step back and care for yourself. Hydrate, rest, and disconnect from the news and social media when you need to. Reach out to trusted friends or family to talk, connect with and support your local LGBTQ+ community center, and give yourself the space to recharge.

While it’s important to care for our mental and emotional well-being, it’s also important to remember that our voices matter and they are needed. Our collective action is the key to pushing back against these harmful actions and whatever legal and legislative fights we will face. That's why it's important to take the time you need to rest and come back to this fight rejuvenated and ready to stand together and show up for our community.

As we brace to face these challenges ahead, let’s also remember the powerful history of our movement. It’s filled with brave, resilient individuals who stood up against injustice and refused to accept a world that sought to erase them. You are part of that legacy – and together, we will continue to fight for a future where every person can live freely and authentically.

LGBTQ+ voices are needed more than ever in public office.

That’s why we’re partnering with The Victory Institute and LEAD PA to offer a FREE LGBTQ+ Public Leadership Summit in Pittsburgh on Sunday, February 2, 2025 from 1-4pm followed by a reception for all attendees from 4:00pm – 5:30pm.

This summit is an opportunity for LGBTQ+ individuals, advocates, activists, and students to come together for a hands-on workshop on how to harness political power and increase LGBTQ+ representation in public office.

By attending, you’ll learn how to step into public service as an out LGBTQ+ leader, build connections with local LGBTQ+ elected officials, and network with others who are committed to advancing equality here in the Keystone State. This is a chance to get involved and make a meaningful difference in our community.

Our identities, values, and the ways we support each other are ours to define, and no one can take that away. So rest and recharge. Take care of yourself. And stay in touch for ways to engage.

Together, we will continue to push forward, fight for our rights, and build a future where all people can thrive.
